Joanna lives and works in Los Angeles where she is constantly inspired to find creative outlets. Whether it is baking, sewing, soap making, or any other project, she loves to share her work with others. Her goal is to make handmade products that not only is she proud of making, but that the customers are proud to buy. All products are made with the intention of creating less waste in the world while also bringing joy to others. She is constantly searching out where to best source products for both cost and quality, as well as keeping up on the research about each ingredient’s environmental impact.

Starting Small.

You may be wondering where the name Nona May came from, and I’d bet you wouldn’t be able to guess who was the very first in my family to don this name.

Back in the early 2000’s every Fourth of July, my dad, aunt, and uncle would all visit Rehoboth, DE for the long weekend. It was here that a tradition of adopting a pet hermit crab was born. When one summer I couldn’t think of a name for my new friend, my aunt recommended Nona May. Confused as you probably are, I asked “Why Nona May?”. She told me that if I was to pronounce the words “no name” with a fancy accent, I’d get Nona May. And thus the journey of my precious hermit crab lives on in a world where colorful shells aren’t the only new items to look forward to.
